‘The Anzac Christmas card‘, Honest History, 22 May 2017
Tells the story of the Anzac Christmas card of 1915, produced under the direction of Lady Birdwood, wife of General Birdwood, and illustrated by the Australian artist AH Fullwood, serving in the Medical Corps in Britain. The cards included messages from General Birdwood and General Hamilton and an elaborate full colour illustration of a Digger sending a ‘Coo-ee’ to his beloved back in Australia.
Gary Werskey is a retired but active historian who is co-founder and current Chair of the Blackheath History Forum in New South Wales. He is researching a biography of AH Fullwood.
