2015 is one hundred years since Harry Julius began ‘Cartoons of the Moment’, animations accompanying feature films shown in Australia and New Zealand. Julius also made animated advertisements.
Since then Australians have been active in many areas of animation, from shorts to feature films, some efforts winning Oscars. The article includes an example of a Julius cartoon and ‘The Aeroplane Jelly Song’.
