Fourteen months ago, we posted on this website Honest History’s Alternative Guide to the Australian War Memorial. Since then the Guide has been downloaded more than 2000 times.
A little more than two months ago, NewSouth published The Honest History Book, which made the case that Australia is more than Anzac – and always has been.
Now, we are pleased to post on the website the second, updated edition of the Alternative Guide. It asks important questions about how Australians commemorate war through institutions like the Memorial.
The Honest History Book extended themes that were introduced in the first edition of the Guide. Now, with the new edition of the Guide, the book and the Guide complement each other.
