Environment Minister given an extension of time to make a decision on War Memorial project

This (pdf copy attached) has just landed on the Referrals list section of the website of the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (2019/8574). The key words:

The relevant period in which the Minister must make a decision whether or not to approve the controlled action is extended to 11 December 2020.

The ‘controlled action’ is the $498m War Memorial project. Heritage Guardians reckoned the normal period of 40 business days (following DAWE’s receiving the relevant documentation from the Memorial, which seems to have been early in October) would run out about the end of November. We have no idea why the period has been extended. Note that the 40 days was a period within which the decision had to be made, unless an extension occurred.
