The Rationalist Society of Australia (RSA) has fought the good fight for a while now, trying to make the Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial look less like a military church parade circa 1916 and more representative of a modern, multi-cultural, largely non-Christian and secular, Australia 2025.

To this point the Memorial has gently batted the RSA away, saying the running of the Dawn Service, like the rest of Anzac Day in Canberra, is outsourced to the ACT Branch of the RSL – and that traditions change slowly. Hands. Thoroughly. Washed.

The RSA’s Si Gladman did a podcast with David Stephens, editor of the Honest History and Defending Country websites. The podcast is here.

The souvenir program for this year’s Dawn Service is already available. There is no change.
