Gerhard (Gerry) Schulz was born in 1934 in Eisenach, Germany (Wartburg Castle, St. Elisabeth, Sangerkrieg, Luther, J.S.Bach, BMW), experienced ten years of Nazism, ten years of Communism (East Germany), five years of democracy (West Germany) and settled in Melbourne in 1960. ‘I became a Pacifist whilst sitting in the cellar listening to the bombs falling. My uncle died on the Russian Front, my father was a prisoner in Siberia for 13 months.’
