The Prime Minister has announced his ministerial reshuffle. Dan Tehan, Liberal Member for Wannon in Western Victoria, is to be Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of Anzac. (The PM said ‘Veterans Services’ but the former title of ‘Veterans’ Affairs’ seems to be correct, based, for example, on the News report, which seems to have had the benefit of sighting the official portfolio list.)
Mr Tehan (pictured) is also to be Minister for Defence Materiel. The coupling of a junior Defence post with responsibility for veterans returns to a long tradition. The former minister, Stuart Robert, was also Minister for Human Services.
