The People’s Passion: Chorus of Women event for 11 November in Canberra

Canberra choir, A Chorus of Women, presents a new retelling of Glenda’s Cloughley’s community oratorio, A Passion for Peace, about the 1915 International Congress of Women and the founding of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. It is on once only, Sunday, 11 November, 5.00-6.30 pm (includes a brief pre-performance talk) at The Chapel, Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Canberra, Corner Kings Avenue and Blackall Street, Barton.

This new one-hour retelling weaves narrative with song to sing the story on to include the women’s envoys who visited over 40 European heads of government and other significant public figures in belligerent and neutral countries, the Treaty of Versailles, and the Second Congress of Women in 1919 (attended by three Australian women), and to people’s movements today.
