Sue Salthouse: disability advocate and powerful force for change

Sue Salthouse, 2020 ACT Senior Citizen of the Year, 2015 Canberra Citizen of the Year, and 2014 ACT Senior Woman of the Year, died after a traffic accident on Monday. Sue was a passionate advocate for disability and other causes. She was one of 83 signatories to an open letter in March 2019 opposing the Australian War Memorial development and again this year put her name to a collective submission against the development.

ACT Chief Minister, Andrew Barr, said:

Sue was a fierce and passionate advocate for people with a disability and in particular, women with a disability. Her life was one of service and contribution to her community, and she worked for greater recognition of the enormous contribution women with disability make to the workplace and in leadership roles.
