To protect Lake Burley Griffin and its lakeshore parklands, the Australian Garden History Society needs to take on advocacy and conservancy by initiating a group of Lake Burley Griffin lakeshore guardians. This may require setting up a web site, developing strong links and support with all interested community groups, demonstrating the historic, aesthetic, social and economic values, liaising with the media, working with the management agencies, taking every opportunity to submit comments on inappropriate development, encouraging the development of master plans and maintaining archives. For Lake Burley Griffin and Lakeshore Parklands, advocacy and conservancy is urgent.
