Ann Curthoys is writing a book on Paul Robeson and Eslanda Robeson’s visit to Australia and New Zealand in 1960. She would love to hear from anyone who remembers any aspect of their visit, notably the concerts, the meeting with waterside workers, the public peace event in St Kilda, and Eslanda’s lecture to women in St Kilda. She would also value any photographs. She would especially like to know if either of them met with Aboriginal people in Melbourne.
Ann has been working on this project for some years, and thanks those who have already told her their memories. She is planning to finish her book by the end of the year.
