Discoveries of Indigenous Australian history discount the idea that pre-European society was ‘primitive’. Instead, ‘the continent’s Indigenous people were truly pioneers in the global (collective) journey of humankind’. The author looks at the examples of navigation, spirituality, innovation in tools, and cosmetic manipulation.
