‘John Henry Adams‘, Shire at War, 11 August 2015
To further mark the centenary of Lone Pine, another cameo from the Shire at War blog from the Yarram area, Gippsland, Victoria. Adams is interesting because of his divided history – hailing from Yarram or thereabouts, enlisting in outback Queensland, the amount of time it took for the authorities to determine he was, indeed, dead at Lone Pine, and the hint that the battle at and around Lone Pine was something of a shemozzle, what the Governor-General recently described as ‘a protracted and vicious armed brawl’.
