Update 31 December 2017: outgoing Minister Tehan announced the reappointment of Dr Nelson in a media release dated 19 December but not posted until after that date.
The five-year term of the Hon. Dr Brendan Nelson as Director of the Australian War Memorial expired at the weekend (16 December). Honest History has been inquiring of the relevant people for some time whether Dr Nelson is to be reappointed or whether another appointment is to be made. We inquired again on Monday (18 December) and a spokesperson for the Veterans’ Affairs Minister, the Hon. Dan Tehan MP, said there would be an announcement ‘in due course’ about the position. (The re-appointment decision was made before the new Minister, the Hon. Michael McCormack MP, took office on 20 December.)
