World War I contentious questions on ABC RN

ABC Radio National is broadcasting World War One: Memory, Perception and 10 Contested Questions on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June 2014 from 12 to 5pm. Crucially, the programs will look at why the war began, as well as other often glossed-over issues.

Each hour of the series will feature newspaper coverage from the times, war diaries and letters, poetry, music and little known facts about the war. Guests include Paul Ham, historian, journalist and author of 1914: The Year the World Ended; Margaret MacMillan, historian and professor at the University of Oxford; Peter Stanley, historian and Research Professor at the University of New South Wales; and Peter Hitchens, English journalist and author of six books including The War We Never Fought.
