Three lost children: revisiting a heroic legend’, Meanjin, 69, 3, Spring 2010, pp. 132-41

In this essay, the author discusses the portrayal in literature of Indigenous Australians as trackers, the portrayal of settler children and the ‘lost child’ theme, and the way that literary portrayals have fed into other artistic representations, which have in turn become understood almost as historical fact.
