Engineer, business entrepreneur and World War I general, described by some as Australia’s greatest soldier but subject of anti-semitism. In one of the odd byways of interwar history, some ex-soldiers in 1930-31 tried unsuccessfully to draft Monash to lead a right-wing political movement, possibly even to become dictator. See also here.
