Public Works Committee inquiry into War Memorial development: Hansard transcript and supplementary submissions

The Public Works Committee website now carries the transcript from its public hearing on 14 July. The transcript includes testimony from a number of opponents of the Memorial redevelopment.

Also posted are supplementary submissions from opponents, including former Memorial officer, Stewart Mitchell, former Memorial Director, Brendon Kelson, Heritage Guardians, Medical Association for Prevention of War, and the Australian Institute of Architects. More than 80 per cent of the approximately 70 submissions to the inquiry opposed the redevelopment.

There is also a submission from former Memorial Director, Brendan Nelson, who was given the opportunity to respond to points made in public testimony. Tom McIlroy in the Australian Financial Review wrote up Dr Nelson’s remarks. Pdf from our subscription.
