Ken Inglis, Australian historian, died in Melbourne last Friday afternoon, aged 88. Ken’s books on a wide range of topics are an outstanding legacy to the study of Australian history and to Australia. His work on commemoration and memory has been an inspiration to the Honest History project and to others working in this field.
Dunera Lives: A Visual History, Ken Inglis’s book with Seumas Spark, Jay Winter and Carol Bunyan, is to be published next year. Graeme Davison’s article, ‘Ken Inglis: threads of influence‘, was published last month in History Australia. Davison described Inglis as ‘one of Australia’s most creative, versatile and influential historians’. History Australia also published Inglis’s article ‘The odyssey of Leonhard Adam‘, a Dunera boy, and appreciations of Inglis by Bruce Scates and Ian Maddocks and Seumas Spark.
