Honest History critique of war propaganda popular on social media

An ABC story on Honest History’s critique of Audacity, a publication by the Australian War Memorial and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, was very popular on social media in the week 24-30 August.

Facebook: 82 839 people reached; 422 likes/comments/shares; 2532 post clicks. The next most popular item scored 7727, 214 and 580.

Twitter: 23 771 people reached. Next on the list 9184.

The ABC story picked up Honest History’s media release, which said it was ‘disgraceful that a piece of sanitised war propaganda’ – Audacity – won an award from the Children’s Book Council. The story included a response from the Memorial and a link to the pdf of Audacity.
