Bean counted in: new ACT federal electorate to be named after Charles Bean

After due process for federal electorate redistribution in the ACT, the new third seat is to be named after Charles Bean, war correspondent and war historian. Announcement from the Australian Electoral Commission. Fairfax story. Michelle Grattan in The Conversation.

Honest History previously posted an item on the redistribution process, including noting the long-term interest in Bean of the Chair of the Australian Electoral Commission, Dennis Cowdroy. The vote of the augmented Electoral Commission was 4-2 in favour of the name Bean.

Update 5 July: ACT MP Gai Brodtmann seeks further and better particulars on the decision.
